Norwegian Show Rules
(Update:d 23.3.2008. For the
complete rules: www.nkk.no)
If you want to show a Collie at a show in Norway it has to be
9 months old. We also have puppy-shows and other un-official shows, but the results
you get there doesn't count for gaining any titles.
We have two different official shows. It's the international shows arranged by
the Norwegian Kennel Club and it is the national shows arranged by the local
dog-clubs or the special breed clubs.
The main different is that it's only at
the Kennel Club Show you can get the casib.
In Norway your
dog always get a written critic from the judge.
You must enter your dog in one of these classes:
Junior Class: 9 till 18 months
Youth Class: 15 till 24 months
Open Class: from 15 months
Veteran Class: from 8 years
Champion
Class: for Norwegian champions and champions from other countries and
international champions
From 1/1-2007 we also have a working class, but the class
is not open for collies.
A dog can only enter one of the classes.
Remember: veterans don't compete for the casib. So if you are
going for the casib you must enter the Open Class or Champion class. In all classes the dogs are compared to the standard and given
1, 2, 3 or 0 in quality. Only the ones that gets 1.st compete within to come 1st, 2nd,
3rd or no 4.
The judge can give HP (prize of honour) or RCC (Reserve Challenger
Certificate) to dogs in the Junior Class and Youth Class. In Open Class only RCC. Only dogs that get RCC compete in Best Dog / Best Bitch
where the CC is given. Champions don't compete for any more CC's but the judge
can give a RCC. At International shows the dogs also compete for the casib in
this class.
To gain the champion title your Collie need 3 challengers certificates. Your dog must get his
CC's from 3 different judges, and the last CC must be won after the age of 2.
And at least one of your CC's must be won at the Kennel Club (11 shows a year) or at
the Norwegian Collie Club's Main Show (1 show a year). Remember if you want to attend to a
show you have to apply about 4-5 weeks ahead. Some clubs ask you to use a special entry form,
but most clubs take an e-mail. To the Kennel Club shows you can also use the
internet, see my NKK-link. Confusing??? Difficult?? Yes it is.
But this was the rules in brief. If you have specific questions you are
welcome to mail me and l will try to answer.
It's a long " wait" to attend the breeding competition held at
the shows because they always comes last, at the end of a long day.
In Norway we can take part in two different competitions. In both you need 4
dogs breed by you, plus in Progeny class; the father or the mother. You can
enter your group when you send your entries and you will come into the catalog,
or you can tell the ring-steward that you have a group. This class is FREE!
-
In "Oppdretterklasse" (Breeder-class) you show 4 dogs from one or four
different combinations. The dogs are judged as a hole group. The judge gives you
a critic for what you have achieved with your breeding. If your group is to the
standard, close in type and to the judges liking you might get a prize of honour.
- In "Avlsklasse" (Progeny class) you show 5 dogs. You
show your broad-bitch (or dog) with 4 of their offspring's. Also they can come from different
combinations. The dogs are judged as a hole group. The judge wants to find that
the dog or the bitch is giving his/her type to their pups.
In both this two classes you go to the BIS-finals if you are
given a Price of Honour.
Shortenings means:
